Newquay has been on many shouts over the years where teams have been out not
just for many hours but also in treacherous weather where we end up getting very cold
Our first fundraising aim is to raise £8,500 for an all-terrain trailer to be used
at shouts and at events.
The idea of the trailer has been a talking point among officers for many years, with some
of those officers now retired. An all-terrain trailer will provide search teams with a central point to return to for refreshments and warmth on lengthy cliff shouts, or where we may have other teams joining us.
It will also provide valuable shelter for the family & friends of those missing or in danger during an anxious period of waiting.
The trailer will be purpose built to double-up as a PR trailer for use when we attend various events during the summer months in Newquay. This in turn will provide people with a chance to meet the team and learn more about what we do.
We will also be able to speak to youngsters and promote HM Coastguard’s message of ‘Be safe, be Sea Smart’.
Our first fundraising event raised £330 towards our goal.
The Blue Fish Bar in Mawgan Porth hosted a fish & chip supper in July 2012; 100 meals were donated for invited guests and Blue Fish Bar staff generously volunteered their time to help raise funds.
The Padstow team came along to help us in our quest.
April 2013: Penny Boxall and fellow slimmers at Slimming World in Newquay raised £271 by losing an incredible 71 stones in six weeks in a ‘sponsored slim’ and by organising a raffle!
They very kindly celebrated their achievements by donating the money to our cause.

Thank you to all those who attended and took part in the Crantock Bale Push on 13th September. We thought the weather might put a dampner on things but the rain eventually cleared and everyone had a fabulous time.
The Newquay Coastguard team did a very respectable time and came in 11th out of 41, well done guys! As yet we don't know how much has been raised for the NCA and other charities but we'll let you know as soon as possible.
Thank you to Hannah who seemed to be running from one place to another on Friday and her team of organisers and helpers for organising a great event and letting us be part of it.
The guys after the race, in front of the bale man and in need of some refreshment!
